SELECTED ITEMS OF INTEREST TO THE MEDIA COMMUNITY
March 9, 2025
Columbia Journalism Review has noted in a recent article how traditional news outlets ('trad news') is starting to play nice with news influencers – probably out of necessity. “Both the Biden and Trump teams granted influencers press credentials and exclusive interviews, further legitimizing their role in the media ecosystem,” writes Klaudia Jaźwińska. She adds, “Given that traditional training or career pathways in journalism are inaccessible to many, embracing creator-model journalists could help to diversify both the press corps and the audiences it reaches”
The Project C, which the author cites, is a newsletter written by Liz Kelly Nelson detailing the practice and business of independent creator journalism. The summary table, The News Ecosystem 2025, does a great job explaining the continuum from “Established for-profit media” to “AI Generated.” We have pulled an excerpt of just two columns and a few characteristics. For the full comparison, please check it out on The Project C pages.
