Jean Hellering is a publishing and direct marketing industry consultant specializing in financial/business modeling and business analysis.
Since founding Hellering Associates in 1995, Jean’s business modeling work has been used extensively by Time Inc. both by individual titles and on corporate level projects. She has provided virtually all their New York based titles, including Money, Fortune, Time, Sports Illustrated, Entertainment Weekly and others, with analyses to help them make a wide range of decisions from expanding mail volumes, to renegotiating partnership agreements to launching new titles. In addition, Jean was a member of the launch team for Real Simple. She has also provided decision support services on major acquisitions including Times Mirror and Synapse. Jean’s client list also includes America Online, American Express Publishing and Tufts University Health and Nutrition Newsletter.
Jean’s unique background encompasses magazine circulation and merchandise direct marketing, strategic planning and analysis as well general business management. For example, Time Warner’s Music Sound Exchange (MSE) initially tapped Jean as a consultant to shape the business strategy, prepare the business plan and develop initial marketing initiatives for its music and entertainment catalog and direct mail company. She then joined the firm as Vice President/General Manager, responsible for business analysis and tracking, budgeting, long term planning and reporting to the company’s Board of Representatives. During Jean’s tenure the company grew from a start-up into a business with over $50 million in sales.
Jean’s publishing and marketing experience also includes a range of consumer marketing positions at Time Inc. She received her MBA from the Wharton School and an undergraduate degree in Commerce from the University of Virginia.
