David Carey was President of Hearst Magazines in 2011, when he was a featured speaker in Quantum's "Media Guru" series.
During the eight years he served as President, the company more than doubled in size, acquiring more than 100 magazines in 14 countries in 2011 alone. Carey went on to become Chairman of Hearst Magazines and today is Hearst SVP, Public Affairs and Communications.
Prior to joining Hearst Magazines, Carey was group president at Conde Nast, and publisher of The New Yorker. He currently serves as a trustee of the Whitney Museum, is on the board of directors of Harvard Business Publishing, and is a member of the advisory board of the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School.
